Cyber Safe Uttar Pradesh, an initiative by the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), is a comprehensive state-level program designed to strengthen digital safety and cybersecurity awareness among citizens, institutions, and government bodies. As cyber threats continue to escalate, the initiative aims to equip people across Uttar Pradesh with the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe online. The one-day event brings together experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to address critical issues such as the protection of essential services and the role of CISOs, online safety for women and children, and the security of public digital infrastructure. It also highlights the importance of community-driven cyber safety, encourages volunteer participation, and deepens the understanding of law enforcement’s response to cybercrime.
The program further explores sector-specific risks in transportation, aviation, and automotive systems while examining the human and psychological dimensions of digital life, including cyber addiction, cyber psychology, and ethical online behaviour. Hosted on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, the initiative represents a major step toward building a cyber-aware, cyber-resilient, and digitally empowered Uttar Pradesh.

Over 200 police officers, academics, and students gathered in Lucknow for a comprehensive cyber awareness
and master training workshop organized by the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), an IIT Kanpur-incubated
NGO, and powered by Paytm. The event, held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, aimed to equip participants with the
knowledge and skills necessary to combat the growing menace of cybercrime in Uttar Pradesh.
During the event, senior UP Police officers provided an alarming overview of the current cybercrime landscape. The National Cybercrime Analysis from January 2022 to August 2024 revealed staggering statistics:
Keynote Address by Dr. G.K. Goswamy, IPS, Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), was the highlight of the event.
Dr. Goswamy shed light on emerging cyber threats such as cyber slavery, digital arrests, and AI-enabled crimes, supported by real-world case studies.
His discussion on cyber slavery—where Indian citizens are lured into cybercrime operations abroad—was particularly eye-opening, along with insights on how AI is being weaponized for sophisticated fraud.
